Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • 2009 Summer Training

In July of 2009 brother Titus held a one-week training in Ohio on the general topic of seeing Christ and the churches.

The training dealt with three main items. First, we considered different Greek words the New Testament uses to convey the thought of seeing spiritual things. We then went on to consider the history of the apostle John, and concluded with an overview of the seven churches in Revelation 2-3, considering how we can learn from their example.

Use the links below to listen to excepts from the training messages on this website, or to download them in mp3 format for offline listening, such as on your iPod. If you want to download a synopsis of the excerpts you can do that via this link:

May these audio excerpts be a blessing to you, and may the Lord use them to bring us all into a fuller seeing of Christ and His Body expressed in the local churches!

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message One

Monday, July 6th, 2009

In this message brother Titus began to consider the matter of vision. As believers, we are not regulated by rules, but by revelations. We may be Christians for years, but until the Lord reveals Himself to us we cannot have much reality of belonging to Christ in our practical considerations. Even if we have received such a vision, we must endeavor to be fresh with the Lord or we may become spiritually dull. (more…)

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message Two

Monday, July 6th, 2009

In this message we continued to cover the basic matter of vision. In particular, we covered the meaning of the three different Greek words used in the New Testament to convey the thought of seeing spiritual things.

Our Christian life begins with a vision of Christ, and continues with further visions, until we become constituted with what we have seen. Such a seeing will cause us to be different than we were before, and even to stand firm for Christ with the spirit of a martyr. (more…)

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message Three

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

This message continued on the topic of the three stages of vision in the New Testament.

The base for the fulfillment of any vision is seen in the ministry of James, the brother of John, one who gave himself to be a martyr for the Lord. The Lord told Peter that he would be one with the heavens to bind and loose what God desired.

Paul saw Christ, and He also saw the Body of Christ. When the Lord appeared to Him on the road to Damascus, He asked him, “Why do you persecute Me?” indicating that He considered His believers on the earth to be a part of Himself. We need to see this same type of vision or our Christian life will not be healthy. (more…)

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message Four

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

This message continued on the topic of the three stages of vision in the New Testament, focusing especially on the vision received by the apostle John. In particular, it considered the process by which the Lord brought such a one as John to the stage of spiritual maturity.

At the cross, the Lord charged John to take care of His mother (John 19:26-27). This limited John very much in his ministry for the Lord, but it was also a great salvation to him, helping him to mature in life until, at the appropriate time, John saw and conveyed the ultimate vision in the New Testament. (more…)

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message Five

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

This message continued on the topic of the three stages of vision in the New Testament, still considering the history of the apostle John and the vision received by him.

It focused on the latter stages of John’s history, i.e., the stage of ministry, the stage of testimony, and the stage of maturity. We see in John’s writings that, in his maturity he became a spiritual man with a heavenly view, one to whom the Lord could unveil the ultimate revelation in the New Testament. (more…)

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message Six

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

This message began to deal with the ultimate revelation in the New Testament, which was unveiled to John and which is contained in the book of Revelation.

This book begins with the revelation of Christ and of the local churches. If we really see the local churches, which have the triune God as their source and as their reality, we will never be bothered by any outward situations. Rather, we will realize that both in our personal life and in our church life, the Lord is the great “I Am” who is sufficient to take care of any problem. (more…)

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message Seven

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

In this message brother Titus considered more the reality of the local churches, and then went on to cover the apostle John’s vision of Christ in Revelation 1.

The local churches today are a foretaste of the New Jerusalem that we will enjoy in eternity. Therefore, whatever we will not have in eternity, we should try not to have today. John’s vision in Revelation chapter one reminds us that Christ is the unique content of the local churches. (more…)

Audio Excerpts: Seeing Christ and the Churches • Message Eight

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me; and when I turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment reaching to the feet, and girded about at the breasts with a golden girdle. And His head and hair were as white as white wool, as snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire; and His feet were like shining bronze, as having been fired in a furnace; and His voice was like the sound of many waters. And He had in His right hand seven stars; and out of His mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword; and His face shone as the sun shines in its power.
— Revelation 1:12-16

This message first continued the burden regarding the local churches, considering what it really means to stand on the genuine ground of oneness. It then went on to cover more of John’s vision of Christ in Revelation 1 and its application to us today, both individually and as the local churches. (more…)
