#55 • Vision Week, December 2016 • Excerpt 8 • “The Two Altars”

In this week’s program we are continuing to feature excerpts from the recent Winter Vision Week in Cleveland, Ohio.

In the tabernacle with the tent of meeting, as described in the book of Exodus, there were two altars: the bronze alter in the outer court and the golden incense altar within the actual tabernacle. These two altars are also spoken of in Psalm 84; verse 3 of that psalm says that in God’s dwelling place:

Even the sparrow finds a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself,
    where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O LORD of hosts,
    my King and my God.

And verse 7 says of those who give themselves to seek the Lord:

They go from strength to strength;
    each one appears before God in Zion.

In this excerpt, therefore, Brother Titus uses the picture of these two altars to show us God’s desire, that we advance from the bronze altar in the tent of meeting to the incense altar within the tabernacle, and how we grow in our relationship with God by continually traveling between these two altars.
